I have an event next weekend for which I need to make a cake - the theme is 'March Madness' and I can't think of how to decorate the cake to match the theme
I'm a good baker but not brilliant at the decoration side of things so it would have to be fairly easy (or involve decorations that I can buy and just put on - I'm not adverse to a bit of a cheat).
The sponge will probably be coconut with white chocolate filling and it can be square or round (big enough to feed 10-12).
I know a lot of you are keen bakers/cake makers and very creative so I'm hoping you'll have some ideas for me.
Thank you in advance!

I think that's what I'll do...coincidentally I actually watched the new Alice in Wonderland last night and thought it could be an option
Now I just need to work out how to make a top hat and some other Alice in Wonderland style things (tea cup/pot? pocket watch? bottle with a 'drink me' label? playing cards?) out of cake!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Can you not make the top hat, watch, teapot etc out of icing? I once made a Mad Hatters Tea Party cake using a round sponge cake which I draped in white icing for the table cloth, and made place settings & accessories out of coloured icing and decorated with various things.
Don't forget the 10/6 price tag on the top hat!
Google 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' images - there are some fantastic creations out there.0 -
First thing that popped into my head was the Mad Hatters Tea Party.
How about something like

You could do a simple tall round shape and decorate with a real cup and saucer on the top of the hat or real flowers on the brim of the hat, playing cards or even get Alice in Wonderland characters?0
