My partner started as a a teacher in september, and is on tax code OT.
He earns £1799 a month with £334 tax every month and £121 NI.
Is this right?
We have done alot of tax calculations online and it seems he should only be paying £199 tax a month?
If its wrong, would he get the tax money back?

It could be right, it might not be enough tax and it could easily be he is paying too much tax. No one on here will be able to say for sure unless you give more information.
What did he do from April to September? Has he had any other income in this tax year job seekers allowance, employment & support allowance, wages from another job, his own business etc etc0 -
Hard to tell if the 0T code is right without all the information.
Does he have any other employment or untaxed income?
If the teaching job is the only employment then it looks incorrect and he should contact his tax office to have the code amended. This may (just) take effect before the end of the tax year & refund made in march pay, otherwise he will need to reclaim after the end of the tax year.0 -
very unlikely that 0T is correct unless he has a second job
did you fill in a P46 when he started?
what did he do between april and september?0 -
He was at uni studying to be a teacher, so no work from 2011 - 2012 september.
Hes going to phone after school tomorrow.:wave:0
