    Hi shadowfax,

I really would not worry yourself about this at all, its up to them to prove you owe the debt, just send the prove it letter to whatever address you have for these lowlifes, they have to pass your letter to the original creditor in any case, the letters are just theats, very rare any of these cases get to a court, unfortunatly the fact that you are corresponding with them about this debt will make them chase you more, if you ignore these things they tend to move on to "easier" targets.

You've not mentioned the most important thing.

Have you looked at you Credit File? If you had any contract, then it will be shown here, and any default. Since you never gave them permission to run a contract you would not have similarly given them the authority to report your financial dealings to Experian/Equifax.

So no need for an 'prove it' letters - if you've no default, you have every right to ignore this junk mail.

Thanks for the help sourcrates, it's put my mind at rest a little! I've just sent the prove it letter and we'll see what happens. I will not correspond with them by phone any more.

Hi Buzby, thanks for the suggestion! Now I'm useless at things like this, I've just googled how to check your credit file and there's a free 30 day trial on the credit expert website by Experian to check your file. Is this the best way to check? If I can find the proof that I didn't enter into it then like you said, I can just ignore the mail and know that they can't do a thing.
  • hi there I have just received the same letter as you and when I rang them they said I owed for a T-Mobile contract which I have never had. could you give me the e-mail for sigma and/or h l solicitors so I can contact them and ask them for proof of this contract. any help would be much appreciated thankyou . the latest bill I got was for £302.20 with court costs

OP - the letter HL Legal sent you will NOT say they ARe taking you to Court, but they MIGHT/MAY/COULD/CONSIDER.

they never put the word WILL anyway in their pathetic threats.
