I started a new job with the NHS about a year ago. When I received my contract it stated that I would be starting at the bottom of the pay scale:eek: I just went and had a chat with the manager, explaining that my previous post was equivalent to the top of the scale. She just rang HR, then asked to see one of my old payslips showing my hourly rate and changed me to the top of the scale:D
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
    Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

    4/2/16 - 13lbs to lose:D
    11/2/16 - 12lbs to lose:D
    3/3/16 - 11lbs to lose:D

When I joined the NHS (2008), I asked if there was any possibility of more money and they gave me £300 more (it was a band 4 post). I think if you don't ask, you don't get! good luck
  • In the private sector this kind of thing is very common.

The scale means there is obviously room to negotiate.

The highest paid people in our company on standard (non-exec) bands are usually people that come in from outside so come at a premium price (i.e. they have negotiated to the top of the bands).
    Thinking critically since 1996....

By all means ask but maybe after you have been offered the job and not at interview, I know somebody who asked at interview and when he asked for feedback he was told him and another were equally suited but they gave the position to the other as he was willing to go to bottom of scale
