NRAM Together Mortgage + Loan - HELP!!

Options
I took out a Together Mortgage with Northern Rock in April 2006 which consisted of a £113k mortgage and £16k loan.

I sold my property in July 2010 at a loss which meant my mortgage payments reduced and I currently have an outstanding balance of around £10k.

On discharging my mortgage, my unsecured loan interest rate increased from 4.79% to 9.79% and I still had a £15k balance outstanding as I had only been making interest payments.

I paid the Unsecured Loan off IN FULL in January 2012 with a little family assistance so the more toxic part of my debt has been dealt with, leaving me with the mortgage payments, which are in truth minimal and manageable.

HOWEVER I have looked through all of my paperwork and can't see any reference to the original amount of Unsecured Loan provided by NR on any of my statements (only an Opening and Closing Balance based solely on the statement period, which were issued quarterly).

I have been contacted by NRAM in February with the generic letter saying "we are reviewing the situation, don't contact us we will contact you blah blah blah". I have read in a few forums about people's anger that NRAM are planning to redress their loan balance by reducing it commensurate to the fees and charges people shouldn't have been paying.

My questions are these:

1. My loan is paid off so do they HAVE to offer me cash or can they offer to reduce my outstanding mortgage balance instead, even though its a separate product now?

2. Are they not contacting me yet because they KNOW all of this and it means parting with money that's rightfully mine?

3. The NRAM website said they wrote to people in December and again in February, and would resolve things within the 8 week period following the February letter. Has anyone already received monies or communication SAYING exactly what they're entitled to and when?

4. I am not an expert when it comes to looking over all the paperwork but thank god I kept it all. My Wife, my Dad and I have all come to the same conclusion that I should be entitled to something but we aren't experts and NRAM are deliberately saying dont ask them! Is there anyone else we can go to to review the information and make an independent judgement?

Thanks in advance for all help and advice.

There is another thread on here somewhere where they are fishing for a class action because it would seem NRAM want to pay refunds towards the outstanding debts rather than issue a cheque for cash.
Have a read of that thread.
  • I am also trying to get nram to speak to me. I took out a mortgage with them in 2007 I asked for £144000 and was given £120000 mortgage and £24000 unsecured loan. I sold the property in September 2011 at a huge loss but did manage to pay off the amounts in full. I down sized my property and because I was still tied in to the mortgage deal had to stay with nram, or pay £7500 exit fee. I stayed with them as I was being held over a barrel and had to pay £3500 exit fee instead. I have tried calling nram but never get anywhere. They take my details and say they will be in touch, but I have never had as much as a letter to say I am owed anything or even if I am part of this mistake. Ive called on several times to be told to give it another 13 weeks. this has now happened 4 times, and my last call to them they said it should not take more than 6 MONTHS!!! that was back in April. I can no longer get an answer when calling them. I,ve been left in limbo with no information and nowhere to turn. Can anybody HELP!!!
