Full & Final Settlements

Hi all.

After trawling these boards looking for advice, i have noticed there is no specific place where people can collectively add their advice and experiences.

So here goes...

Please add any full and final settlement figures you have obtained either by Pence per £ or by % and which company it was with, including any difficulties getting this figure.

Please also include whether the debts were statute barred or not.

Hopefully there will be plenty of experiences shared and make it easier for onlookers to make a decision as to what methods to use and what figure to start negotiating at.

Have fun all.

    Hi

I recently met with a financial advisor to discuss the best way to deal with my current credit card debt which totalled £16k over 3 cards.

She has managed to arrange a full and final settlement with mbna getting it down from 5300 to 2300 and is working with barclaycard but they dont look like their budging because i have never had a missed payment.

Can someone explain how this would show up in my credit report as O recently got offered a new job but it is subject to a credit check as well as the usual police checks?

I get the impression that employers do a credit check to verify my identity and just look out for fraud, bankruptcy, CCJ, IVA, basically anything court related.

    Your help is much appreciated
