I' be very grateful for suggestions as to how to clean a set of vintage bone-handled, EPNS knives and forks.

EPNS stands for Electro plated Nickel silver. Use a silver cleaner on the blades. If you are washing the knives stand them in a jam jar of hot water to soak the blades so that the handles don't get wet. I think you can use lemon juice on the handles but your best bet is to find one of those reproductions of the original Mrs Beeton - look in a bookshop as it was republished recently for her 150th anniversary. Otherwise a google search for Victorian cookery books might help. Try this websitehttp://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/
hope this helpsIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
