Hi
My OH is planning on returning to primary school teaching after a break doing different work. Her salary in 1996 was 20K gross (grad + 9 years secondary experience), what would the equivalent amount be today
Thanks

I think she will struggle with getting any work in teaching with being out of it for so long to be honest. At the present there are literally thousands of unemployed teachers in the U.K. There is also very little supply work available.
Perhaps it would be an idea for her to speak to someone who is in the know. What about contacting someone from the NUT or the Local Teacher Training College?.They will be able to tell her if its a goer or not, and if so, if she has to do a refresher course etc.0 -
Very few primary jobs about, and LOTS of applicants going for each one!!
I think she'd have to do some sort of refresher before standing a chance of getting a job, and will be up against cheaper newly qualified NQTs!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Depends where you are re Supply as where I am there is a shortage. I believe that Supply get a standard rate regardless of experience but may be wrong.
There are also a fair few teachers who have taken career breaks on the support worker supply list.

The shortage of supply in Scotland is down to the decision to pay all short term supply teachers on Point 1 of the salary scale. many are refusing short term supply because of it.0
