Manual payments eight to ten weeks?

It's taken years for the CSA to organise collection of < £2 per week from my ex partner's benefit and I've noticed that I have only had three payments since February.

According to the lady on the phone, (bear with me while I get technical), this is because the computer is "completely broken" and my case will have to go through a lengthy process whereby the money can get to me. Apparently it is all sitting in a non profit making account somewhere having been collected - they just can't send it.

I've been told not to bother phoning again until August. Does this sound right?

    Hello :)

I don't know specifically how long the manual payments take, but I was told about 6-8 weeks to set it up recently! This is because it has to be done by hand and you are quite possibly in a pile waiting to be dealt with.

I managed to get it sorted within 3-4 weeks and actually had some money go in my account today (wooooo!!) but only because I kept ringing and being a nuisance I suspect :) However, you can't speak to manual payments directly, you have to speak to your caseworker (or in my case the team leader) who has to ring them and then get back to you with the info.

My advice would be to keep chasing it up.. good luck!! :D

Payments from benefits are usually only sent quarterly from the benefits agency, that's why they've said to call back. There's no harm in checking that you have had everything due to you so far though.

I am also one of the unlucky parents whose details wont go on the system but i have a wonderful case worker who i ring often to remind her to send payments and i receive these with 7 days of them landing on her desk, find out your case worker and tell them you need the money or you will be making a claim for compensation for non recceipt of maintenance and by my guess you will get it, i know i did.
