Petrol allowance
Moleskin
Hi guys, I,m in the process of contesting a few claims from my soa. The or has allowed me all of my work travelling expenses( petrol, parking etc) but I also claimed for social travelling expenses( running the kids around dentist etc for family and visiting family and friends at weekends etc) the or has completely ignored this claim is this fair? Secondly we have 3 dogs that we used to have insured, but as money got tight we had to cancel. We have since had to pay several vet bills is there any additional allowances for 3 dogs. She has allowed me £45 pet food allowance.help please!!

A car is exempted as an asset in BR if there is a proven need.
Such as, travelling to, and from, work.
A car used solely for social and domestic travel is unlikely to get exemption as an asset.
Therefore you will be expected to find such fuel expenditure from elsewhere within your SOA.
[bearing in mind, your insurance, VED, servicing and MoT costs will [or should] be already included, as the car is exempted. So these will be going towards the social mileage costs too?]
[The OR has exempted the car as an asset, hasn't he/she??]
This may sound fatuous, but you could always drive more economically, to spin out the allowances already agreed?
Regarding pet insurance?
I seem to recall this aspect of pet ownership should also be found from elsewhere within the SOA...but, negotiation with the OR might prove positive? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Then you need to insist on your allowances, and more in my opinion. Plenty of scope for negotiation.
Perhaps you want to put your SOA on here?
