Thanks Dave. I've got a Mazda 6SL which is great on dry roads but prone to aqua planing in the wet:eek: and a nightmare on any snow or ice:eek: Standard fit tyres are summer only so I was considering some other options at next tyre change
Hello artha, I lived in Germany a few years and know just how good winter tyres can be. So much so that when the government announces, usually end of October, you have to change over to winter tyres. Specific all-season tyres are just about OK, but winter tyres much, much, better. In Germany if you don't change your tyres as advised, the insurance company won't pay up if there is an accident, and the police may prosecute you too. Everyone changes back to summer tyres when told, usually end of March. Winter tyres are better at gripping the road in just wet conditions too as soon as the temperature goes below 7degrees C as they are made of different rubber. In summer temps they are not as good and wear too fast. Most people have 2 sets of complete wheels which they either store on a stack-spike in their garage, or the garage where they have the tyres changed over stores them for them for an all-in price of about 30 pounds a time. There was a guardian article this year "winter tyres, are they worth it?" 19/03/13 which may be of interest as it quotes differences in braking distances, and the reporter tried winter tyres out for themselves. Hope this helps.

Loads of white stuff here.

I'm still in bed as the hubby is on boy duty this morning. :j proper lazy I know but god I needed a lay in. I've no idea what was up with my little man but he had me out of bed every 15-20 mins last night for 3 hours solid. I give up at 3.30am and brought him into our bed. Shattered.com.

Anyhow, enough whinging from me, I'm off for a catch up- only 20 pages to do.

Someone was saving late last night that there was a orange juice moc in one of the tosco mags - is there a PDF of these?

I managed to get some reduced juice in Morrisons last week - own brand pomegranate etc footprint about 55p so very happy with this. It always pays to check the reduced section in whatever store you are in.

I think that's going to be it for today - check tosco for cans of tomato and the bit of a Sada shop plus newspaper and recycling.

Then back to the sofa :)

    Morning all,

We had a load more snow here overnight, finally seems to have stopped at the minute though.

Fell asleep on the sofa last night at about 9pm and even made it into bed by half 10 so feeling a little more refreshed this morning :D

Have sent OH to out of hours centre to collect a prescription for me as have developed oral thrush and has got worse over last 24 hours. Now hurts to swallow liquids and talk so need to get treating it. Fingers crossed it improves quickly. Least it's stopped my overeating though ;)

Artha, not seen anyone reply to your Q about withdrawing from PP. Seemed much too easy to me too :D As you said, bonus added automatically but didn't seem to have to play through x times the amount like other sites and stakes came out of bonus rather than winnings. I managed to withdraw £25 after only playing for about an hour, much quicker than bgo :p

  • My four year old has just asked me "why is water wet?" Now how do I answer that one!
Never too soon to start those physics lessons in my opinion. "Why is water wet?" is right up there with "why is the sky blue?" My brother still remembers being 2 and stargazing with dad, getting his first quantum physics lesson, and he went on to become an engineer:....
