cleaning lamp shades

I have a couple of white lamp shades which have got a bit dusty/grubby. What's the best way to clean them? Can I use warm soapy water. Bit hard to describe what they are made of but feel sort of fabricy  Nothing flash about them, just standard looking.

I ust the brush attachment for the Dyson on mine. I find they strek if you get them damp.

Are they too far gone for the feather duster to be used on them? I have used a damp cloth, but they may streak a bit. Cheaper than new ones tho'!!

I dust mine with talcum powder and carefully rub it in. Then out comes the Dyson. The talc seems to stop the streaking of normal vacuuming.
