    It needs to be higher! If it's looping at the back, that means that your bobbin thread is tighter than your upper thread, hence you need to tighten the upper tension - loops at the front would mean the opposite. Try it at about 4/5, then go higher still if the loops are getting smaller.

  • Thanks I will play around with it. I had to turn it down when I was using a twin needle as it was too tight.

    Sometimes mine does that when the bobbin thread isn't running smoothly, so I would check that. I also find that sometimes the tension dial gets "overwound" so wonder about pulling it out / taking it off, cleaning it, and starting again - maybe marking the dial yourself (I had a machine once that stopped conforming to the "official" tension guide)
    This is just very general advice - I am sure you won't do anything you are unhappy with!
