Facebook Selling Pages

I've recently become member to load of different 'pages' and 'groups' on Facebook which are intended for the use of buying/wanted in a certain area. I've found this a great way to get rid of all my extra junk without paying fee's (as you would on Ebay) or postage. The majority of people on the pages are happy to collect them. There are of course some messers on the pages but every page has a page admin who issues can be reported to.
Does anyone else use the selling pages on Facebook? Most area's will have some kind of page set up. Great for those of you doing the £2013 in 2013!

I've been signed up to few local ones for a while. I advertise on there for my business and also when getting rid of 2nd hand personal stuff. I find its mostly full of kids and chavs who make stupidly low offers on expensive items. I've had some luck selling 2nd hand personal stuff but even then its usually to the 5th or 6th person as the first few are complete time wasters.
The items I see listed that seem to get most replies are really cheap items for a couple of quid and even then people are offering lower amounts!
It all just seems like quite a tacky car boot sale where people want something for nothing. I find Gumtree much more successful even though it has its fair share of chancers and time wasters.0 -
I know exactly what you mean! Some are just full of rubbish but some page admins are quite strict with posts etc.
I've had quite a lot of luck selling my clothes and household items on there. But then again lots of it im only selling for a couple of quid. I think it's best used for stuff that isnt worth selling on Ebayx

I already have a main business that sells on various platforms including ebay and amazon. I've just started a sideline business that is more suited to local, face-to-face selling so I had high hopes of the FB selling groups0

Alot of local businesses in my area use them and are very successful! I think it just depends on the groups and how the admin's run them!0

I'm sure there are products that do well. The sort of products I was trying to advertise were more expensive electrical items which as I say just attracted silly low bids. And when pointing out the actual price the common response was usually something along the lines of "Nah m8, cnt afrd dat".0

ahh... the common chav. Such a frequent dweller of the selling page!0

I sell on about 6-7 different facebook selling pages, it isn't easy to get people interested though.
I find a lot of the sites I sell on full of knock off goods, fake sunglasses or dodgy trainers which makes it difficult to just sell odds and ends.
My other niggle about it is the amount of no shows and time wasters. I have sold things to the same person 3 times now a (different things) and on each occasion she has forgotten the first couple of collection times and had a flat tyre on the third- then she just goes quiet. When she asked about buying something again I just called her bluff a bit and asked her about the other uncollected items- and I 've never heard from her again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. depending on what you are selling it can be good, ive used facebook selling pages in the past to generate extra income. You not going to make millions from it however its another way of generating revenue.0

I haven't use it yet. I think I should try it.0
