Making own invitations - rubber stamps etc

Hi,
I'm looking at making my own invitations, well that's the idea at the moment, but I'm thinking it could easily end up just as expensive as having them made!
So I'm looking for any tips on where to buy cheap, but good quality, card, paper and ribbons etc.
I quite like the idea of getting a stamp made so that we can personalise all of the cards easily but I'm not sure where to start! We have designed a logo with our initials and we think it would work well as a stamp. We would ideally like to get it made into a stamp and then use metallic embossed ink (I think this exists...I'm new to crafts!!). I've tried to google made to measure stamps but they seem more aimed at the business world and not for craft use. Any ideas?
Failing that I'm wondering if we could have some embossed stickers made up in our logo.
We could always print our logo onto the paper and use metallic colours elsewhere on the invitations and get depth by adding different layers rather than embossing if this proved too costly.
Any ideas or tips much appreicated!

I got my wedding invitation stamps from ebay. These were just standard stamps "Wedding invitation" "evening invitation", etc. They were approximately £10 and this came with a few other (menu, order of service, thank you) stamps.
In my opinion, the easiest way to do the invitations is to use a clear ink pad, embossing powder and a heat gun. You can get kits from argos for about £20. I have done over 80 invites with one ink pad and one tub of powder (again, ebay for spares of this).
I think that you would be able to get someone to make up a stamp for you if you wanted to, again ebay would most likely be your best place to start.
Card - i've bought mine from papermill direct and PDA card and craft.
Glue, double sided tape - poundland
Ribbon & embellishments - ebay or country baskets
Hope this helps!0 -
If you google personalised stamp wedding, you'll find a few companies that do personalised stamps. Some places just add your names and dates to a template, others are more bespoke. We've ordered a template one with our details added for £10, for our save the dates. Just waiting for it to arrive! bespoke ones are £20 ish.
Hope that helps!0 -
I can second using PDA Card & Craft for supplies. If you want to emboss then you'll need powder and a heat gun. I've used Whimsy Stamps in the past to design & make a custom rubber stamp.
Alternatively do you have access to a laser printer? On the last set of wedding invites I made I printed a swirly heart design in the corners. You can then run it through a laminator with foil on top, which melts the ink and makes the foil stick...
Here's an example:

My cousin works for a stamp design company http://www.rubberstampsdesigner.co.uk/ we are using these for our 'thank you' tags.
They should be able to send you some sample ideas if you tell them what you wantDebt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.
Busy saving for my wedding July 2014.

I thought about using a stamp but in the end they were a bit dear (same happened to my lace ribbon idea) so I got little diamond things from poundland. Each pack included quite a few sheets in different sizes, I used the smallest ones on the day invites, the medium on the evening invites and the large just on the seal of the envelope. Actually reading that it sounds tacky but I promise they weren't! The diamonds were adhesive so I didn't need a glue gun or anything.
I think I got my cards and envelopes from the works (sorry they're not on their website) and I printed them at home on an inkjet printer. I made the rsvps from single thick sheets of card which I bought from a stationery shop, printed myself and had cut into postcards.
if I can give you one bit of advice, get them done as soon as you possibly can as the time goes by so quickly and I fully regret the nights we had to sit up doing invitations so they could be posted the next day, way too much hassle!
hope that helps and good luck!0 -

We got our wedding stamp from here http://www.etsy.com/listing/121363051/personalized-love-banner-bunting-names
If you have designed your own logo, look up 'skull and cross buns' on either Etsy or notonthehighstreet as she made my business logo into a stamp. I was thoroughly pleased with both companies:-)0 -
I was in The Works on Friday and they had a pack that could make you 50 invites for £4.99.

They also have save the dates. I opened the box up to look at them and they seemed to be decent quality and looked nice. In the shop they had more than one design but I can only see this one on their website.0
