Mexican wedding certificate help needed please

Hi there,

I've got a problem and have no idea where to turn for help.

We got married in Mexico on 25th June 2012 through thomson weddings for our whole party it cost just over £15000, it was a wonderful day.

We understood that it would take some time for our marriage certificate to arrive and accepted that. When our certificate arrived in October 2012 we realised that it had the wrong DOB for myself, I immediately contacted our wedding co-ordinator and she admitted that she should have checked these documents with us before the wedding but didn't. She then said I should contact the justice of the peace in this country to get it rectified. I contacted Thomson weddings instead.

Below is the emails that have been sent between me, my wedding coordinator and Thomson. I feel I'm being fobbed off and cannot get any straight answers out of anybody as to when I'm going to finally become a Mrs. I'm frustrated and don't know where to turn. Can anyone help me please?

Hola Chere!

I had a response today from the Justice of the Peace confirming that they have your certificate.!
They are doing the correction on it (starting today) and they will send it to Chetumal (main offices) for the stamp and for the apostille.!
They will do it as fast as they can, but please note that this process take some time which doesn't depend on us.!
As soon as we have some news I will contact you immediately.!

Hey Sarah,!

In reference to Eugenia's email below, I have a few more questions if you could help me please.!

Eugenia has stated that a month after the wedding the certificates go to central, she says the local justice of the peace wont receive the certificates back until after months but we've supposedly been married for over 7 months now. How long is the time frame for these things? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm understandable frustrated with this, I just want to be Mrs G,which is what our group paid £15000 for.!

Eugenia states that she emailed them to find out what is next to change the mistakes In the certificate(Eugenia's words not mine). She does not sound certain of what is going to happen, I'm very very worried that this is not going to get sorted and I'm not ever going to be married in the eyes of the law in the UK.!

She also states that the Gran Bahia will do everything to have it as soon as possible and is something that is not in their hands but if these documents would have been checked with us, as they were supposed to have been, We would not be in this situation in the first place.!

Please can you help me? I'm very frustrated and upset and what was one of the happiest days of my life is now turning into a nightmare.!

I am sorry for the delay of this matter, as I explain before after a month of the weddings, all the marriage certificates goes to a central that is not located in this city.!
The local justice of the peace (who did the wedding) wont have the certificates back until months after they were sent.!
Just yesterday I send them again another e mail to check if they have them back so they can tell me what's next to change the mistakes in the certificate.!
I gave them a call earlier and they said they will call me back to confirm they have your certificate.!
I am looking after this, but please note that Bahia Principe will do everything to have it as soon as possible and is something that is not in our hands.!

I will contact you as soon as I have an answer.!

I'm disappointed how this has been handled by Gran Bahia. This is taking a long time to sort out and I'll be lucky if I can change my name by my 1st wedding anniversary, which in my eyes is unacceptable. If I'd have known there would be this problem I would have thought twice about getting married abroad.!

I already spoke with the Justice of the peace about this, but they have to wait till the central bring all the papers back.!
Once they have them back they can make the changes, and we will be able to send them the apostilled wedding certtificate.!
Remember the apostille takes like 2 or 3 months.!
We are working on this and will be sent as soon as possible.!
I will contact the judge early morning again.!

So we do know that its in hand, it will just be a matter of time now.!

I am very sorry to see this, the judge made a mistake with this.!
The big certificate is just legal in Mexico and it was the one you were suppose to pick up with me in the reception before your departure and take it with you home, I usually do this with all the couples and explain them in our meeting so we can double check that the information is correct before we send it to apostille.!
Anyway, the small version is the one that is the important one, in the back you will see an apostille (stamp that makes it internationally legal). This is the one that you have to translate and make it legal in UK. I spoke with the judge and she says that it wont be an issue for you.!
Please check it with the justice of the peace in UK and if you have a problem let me know. I will be looking forward to hear from you !!

Hello Eugenia,

I have received my marriage certificates on return from a holiday and I am very disappointed to find out that my date of birth is wrong. It states i was born in 1975 not 1976. I'm seeking advise as i am worried this makes my marriage invalid? Please help
