Abbey joint loan protection covers who?

Hello
Could do with some advise but this is a little technical and legal.
My husband had a joint loan with his ex. He hasn't been very successful in paying it off as he has had to give up work due to injury.
At the time he asked her to contact the bank and request that they allowed a payment plan temporarily as he couldn't afford his half. She wouldn't even contemplate the idea so she has unfortunately footed the majority.
The problem is that when he became unable to do the same work he asked them if he was covered by their sickness protection to which he was told only the first named person was covered. Of course that was her!
He is adamant that had they have been told this in the first place they would not have taken the loan or at the very least they would have named him first as his work was more physical. Also as she had been with the same company since leaving school she was more likely to be looked after by her company should anything go wrong.
He tells me that she was pretty clued up about such things as finances and researched thoroughly before applying for the loan.
The other thing is. We have a document though not a signed contract
Wopn't put every detail but will try to show, how they have it listed, the key points
Credit Agreement regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 Customer Copy
CUSTOMER DETAILS
ABBEYLOAN No **************
Surname (1) W*****(her surname) Insured
Person
(2)W***(his surname) Insured
Person
Other Names (1) (her first name)
(2) (his first name)
Address ETC, ETC, ETC
When he contacted them and said that it stated he was an insured person as written on this, he was told it was a printing error and the second time it sais 'insured person' it should have been next to her first name instead of his surname.
Believe my this may not show what the actual letter looks like but it is written in exactly the same position away from his name as it is hers and is lined up.
So what does every one else think.
I'm not sure if we or they (hubby and ex)could take it any further.

Most PPI on loans only cover first names
Did she earn more than him when applying for loan? if so she would have needed to go first, rather than the one with the more physical job0 -
 I have the same thing on our policy. I have just contacted them to reclaim the PPI and when I was copying the documents that I need to send to them it does indeed state both mine and my husband's name as being insured but on a seperate piece of paper from abbey it states what we are covered for but only puts my name down. If this is an error then they have done it to a lot of people I suspect.:beer:Proud to be dealing with my debtsmy head is no longer in the sand!!0
