What do you expect from a mortgage broker?

MM I agree. When I decide to buy a new conservatory or car ,I research in depth and because I am a resource investigator and have a goal I learn fast.
The vast majority of the general public need to wise up and if they don't, they need an expert.
Inhibition very often prevents questions from being asked ,will I look silly, that is why you are so successful you have the ability to put other's at ease, just like a chat with your neighbour over the fence .Therefore when a poster is about to ask a question and he/she reads the thread and Cemap123 is brought into the discussion or KFI or AIP or a broker mentions a pink meeting ,they might get discouraged. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
Jargon has several meanings[1]:
1. Nonsensical, incoherent, or meaningless talk.
2. A hybrid language or dialect; a pidgin.
3. The specialized or technical language of a trade, profession, or similar group. See Synonyms at dialect.
4. Speech or writing having unusual or pretentious vocabulary, convoluted phrasing, and vague meaning.
most consumers want to know "how much can I borrow?" - "how much will it cost?" - that's it. I'd love to know how many KFI's, IDD's, terms of business and recommendation letters get read properly. Very few I suspect.
KFI and IDD's fine for a broker ,but this is a consumer site ,if you wish to find a friend within the industry,go on Cherry.
Make it user friendly.
You are right. Jargon is a turn off because it is intimidating as it insults the reader who does not understand it. This means they have negative feelings towards the writer and leaves the reader feeling cold. Notice how when jargon is used people become unreceptive, it is as if a cold mist has surrounded them. Whereas if you use warm and customer friendly language the reader feels an emotional bond to the writer and enjoys reading their work. Readers will feel happier to read what one writes and this means there will be better understanding and a feeling of warmth and friendship on this forum. Brokers should learn that language is their best sales tool and learn how to use English to its fullest advantage.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
Agreed Kenshaz/Absolutebounder
Perhaps as brokers we should recognise this shortcoming and try to use more descriptive language rather than industry jargon. Another idea which I think will benefit forum users is that I think one of the regular brokers should draw up a glossary of terms which are used within our industry, with a description of what it is and how it applies to a consumer. If that could be stickied to the top of the board it might help. I am not volunteering myself here by the way!I am a Mortgage Adviser
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Why don't you ever try to offer some help/advice, and I wasn't looking for friends particularly.
