Bearing that in mind -I can see why you might think cashing in a pension for some rapid cash might be appealing. You would be better off talking to the CAB and leaving your pension well alone - you certainly won't regret that in 30 years time... best of luck
Hi there. Thank you for your constructive comment. I do sometimes get put off asking for help on here, as there seem to be quite a few clever dicks who like to make you feel ridiculous for not knowing things, or who like to make sweeping judgments about your character based on a short question.
So, I do appreciate someone who takes time to get a feel of the bigger picture , thank you, I appreciate it.
However,I have realised since posting the initial question that I had got muddled with a colleague who sold her ENDOWMENT. No doubt the hecklers will have a field day on that now...tssk.
But thanks for the good wishes, I am on my way to financial recovery now, having sorted all the mess from a previous relationship. Now comes the slow painful part of repaying...:)0 -

Not a problem for me -I learnt something checking my answer.

yes, I am afraid you are. AS living on benefits isn't a great existence. Esp when you are old.0 -

Sorry, but you didn't say you wanted it to pay off debt (still a bad idea even if possible) you said you wanted it to spend living the high life. So, it isn't we are 'clever dicks' but it was you being flippant.
A pension is protected from your creditors- be glad of this.
And go to the Debt free board for the help you seek.0 -
Sorry , but can you point out where I said I wanted it to spend on 'the high life'?
I think you'l find it was another MSE member who posted that comment.

Very true, sorry. But we do get this all the time, hence the Sticky above on the main page.
But do be glad this money (of any have or will have) is protected from your creditors.
Hopefully the guys on the Debt free boards and those who deal with IDAs and the like can help you get where you need to go.
Good luck.
Many of us are here because we save. But many also used to have debt. So there is some light at the end if the tunnel.0 -
