I'm scared ill get some mortgage advisor who will run an application with a high street borrower, the application will be declined and ill be left with a big footprint on my file.

You need to give specific instructions.

You don't know for definite that you won't be accepted by Halifax. You have the limited AIP, which may not give you complete peace of mind, but you won't know for definite if you don't submit a full application.

It seems to me you are going to have to at least try with Halifax. If that fails, you then look off-High Street with a proper broker who will look at the specialists, or perhaps a non-scoring lender, such as a smaller building society.
