Car HP problems.. any advice??
hi i got a mazda RX-8 on finance but was abit negative when i got it so had that added to the finance to date i have £4300 to settle. i have had the car 3 months and the engine has packed up and now it requires a new one i have only done 2,500 miles and the warranty ran out a week before this happened.. is there any way out the finance deal or do i have to keep the car on the drive for 4 years and still pay the finance on the car :S.. i would consider repairing the car but due to another baby on the way we need a bigger car now anyway so repairing it seems like a waste of time and money as i would repair it then change it straight away.... is there any way i can hand the car back or stop paying for the car and let them just take the car back? please help!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you
thank you

It is unfortunate that the engine has packed up just outside the warranty period.
You could try contacting the dealer who sold you the car and see if they are willing to offer any goodwill, but if not then I'm afraid you will be responsible for getting the car repaired.
You cannot take out this problem on the finance company. Neither is it sensible to leave the car on the drive, not repair it, and keep paying it off.
You need to be sensible, investigate the costs of having the engine repaired or having a new, second-hand or reconditioned engine fitted. Then you can either sell the car or keep it."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. Have you looked into how much a new engine would be or how much to repair it.
Once you know im sure either you get it fixed and use the car or seel the car on to someone who can fix it and make a profit on it0 -
Did you purchase new or second-hand?
Mileage at purchase & now?
From a main dealer or independent garage?

When you hand it back on the HP i think it needs to be in a condition that matches its age, A blown engine wont be one of them.
What oil did you use in it? How much did it use?
Having it sitting on the driveway whilst you save for another engine is OK. But only do that if you are going to get it fixed.
It will lose value sitting idle. But if you cannot settle the finance then you cannot sell it.
Age of the car and miles? Who did you buy it off? How long ago?
How much did you pay and whats the finance value?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
thanks for the replies... right here goes. the mazda garage quoted about 6k for a new engine and refit but i have found other places that do it for 2k. the car was bought second hand from a car dealer it was on 63k miles now its on 65k so i have done very little milage.. the finance company are sending out an engineer to see if the car was fit for purpose as you say and if he thinks it wasnt the finance company will pay for the repairs but worse case is its my fault and i have to keep paying for the car.. i dont want to spend the money on repairs as the car working is only valed at 2,000 and i owe 4300.. so may have to bite the bullet and keep paying for it and buy a cheap run around car but just looking if there is any ways of getting out the finance..0

I recall seeing a video of the RX-8 Startup/shutdown palava you have to go through to prevent the engine throwing it's legs in the air.

Why not email mazda, if you have correctly kept the oil etc okay they will repair it even if upto a few years out of warranty with that low milegaeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
