Hello
Before I go to university later in the year I want a laptop, I have a budget of about £600, using:
a) Procegrabber.co.uk as it finds a huge range of laptops and is very easy to use and
b)Play.com it was just luck I found it
I have found the following two Laptops.
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/653/860/-/3300162/Sony-Vaio-VGN-N21E-W-Intel-Core-Duo-Processor-1-73GHz-15-4-Laptop-Genuine-Windows-Vista-Home-Premium/Product.html?searchtype=genre
bear in mind that with play.com I quaklify for a 10% student discount
http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_9301AWSMi_Laptop_LX.AWP0X.054/version.asp
They both look quite good but I am not very confident at interpreting thr specifications of them, I have before made rather rash purchases and later regretted it so I thought I would ask for help this time!
Thank you, and if you think there is a better deal elsewhere please say, I did read the first and last 5 pages of the cheap decent laptop hunt but I have a feeling that a £300 laptop will not do me 3 years justice at univeristy

I would personally go for a Sony any day over an Acer. Have owned a few in the past and they are very good quality.
By the way your FONT is so hard to read and you may want to change it. Or it could just be me

No, that font is virtually impossible to read. If you want people to read your posts, it's best to leave them in the standard font.
I too would go for the Sony. Better build quality, better brand and reputation. The Sony has an Intel CPU, which is slightly (IMHO) better than the Turion (silly name) in the Acer. I wouldn't dream of buying an Acer. Ugh.0 -
Lot of Sony snobbery here
, it's just a brand name, they break like any other.
A £320 laptop will be fine, and there is no reason it won't last 3 yrs. My advice don't waste your money, spend too much, and it will probably get nicked.

personally I don't rate Sony that much - tend to be a bit overpriced, but are made by Asus who make v good products (hint hint look at Asus laptops). However if given a choice between Acer and Sony - well it isn't a choice, I would never reccomend buying an Acer laptop.0 -
Sorry about the font! I thought it was nice, I'm not sure how to change it, but I will try in a minute.
I thought the Acer looked ok with a webcam and all, but I agree the sony is a likely the better buy.
Are there any other laptops for a similar price that you would recommend then? Once I have bought the Laptop how much would it cost if I were to upgrade the battery to more than 2.5 hours?
Thanks for your help so fat, that was an incredibly speedy response, even considering the font!0 -
A lot of people on here seem to end up using Sony's warranty service..

I have looked at Asus, for my budget I think these three are the best, what do you think and which one is the best one, I could not see much difference between 2 of them apart from the price.

wouldn't touch the third one with a celeron cpu but either of the other two are ok the second is nice but only a single core cpu whilst the first is dual core - but should be comparible in processing power.0
