well ladies.......like you, I've left the private property bund at a similar stage of life....and like you, renting is going to be the way forwards from now on.
In itself, not a bad thing...for I believe, once retired and on a State pension, it is easier to get support with housing costs if renting?
[A bit like going back to the 1970's, and a Benefit culture..but hey, what the heck, the way I see it is I've paid more than enough into this country, so it's about time I got some of it back.....better n my pocket than some over-paid bankers'?]
Of course, if I won the lottery, I'd buy a home....money giving me more choice, 'tis all.
Retirement isn't mandatory any more.
I..and quite a few of my colleagues, intend working until past 70. [some have to, having obtained re-mortgages to offset existing debts...].....and I don't care if I'm keeping a youngster out of a job...there's a block on recruitment in force anyway......but then, I enjoy what I do for a living...and it beat part-time pushing trolleys ion Tesco's, hands down!
In many ways, given the current....[and currently gloomy future?] economic situation, I think more and more folk who reach our era of life are going to find BR quite an attractive proposition, leaving as it does, ourselves with a debt free future?
Simply because, at our time of life, options for the near future are indeed limited. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
