Credit file clean up success :)

I first obtained a copy of my equifax and experian credit reports in October 2012 in preparation for applying for a mortgage at some point in 2013.

On there was a 'deliquency' balance of £1 from O2 which almost cost me my new job with a bank. Two missed payments on barclaycard from may 12 and oct 12. Four missed payments from orange from 2011 and four missed payments on two separate accounts (gas and elec) with British gas.

My husband was pretty much spotless with only one missed payment from a barclayloan from September 2012.

In November 12 I was one of the unfortunates who experienced the BT default being added from 2010.

With complaint letters to each of the companies, I have managed to have all late payments removed from British gas on both entries, the late payment from barclaycard from oct 12 removed, the delinquency balance from O2 removed (I managed to get this resolved in time to be reconsidered for the job, which I am now 4 months into. And the BT default removed (which was a mistake anyways) as well as £100 in compensation.

I've tried and tried with Orange but no luck at all.

I also managed to get the late payment From my husbands barclayloan removed too.

I feel like this is a huge achievement as now I only have th missed payments from orange from two years ago and one missed credit are payment from may 12. I think the way my credit report was beforehand would have made it difficult to get a mortgage but now it seems more achievable!

Delighted is the word!! Just shows that it is possible if your are willing to put the time and in (and obviously depending on the person who investigates your complaint)

All the companies that you say listed late payments on both you and your husbands credit history had no obligation to get these removed because even though you said the BT default was removed due to being in-correct. You have not told us that the late payments were wrong?

So if you paid Orange late on 4 occasions I might add, can you please tell me why they should remove them if infact what they are reporting the correct information on your credit history is correct?

If I was a potential lender I would want to know this information before making up my mind about lending you thousands of pounds on a property.

So who have you fooled, apart from yourself? Doesn't get to the root cause of the problem that it was your own doing/fault that you paid these accounts late.

I am saying this in a light hearted way and not being hostile, just trying to make you see that if infact it is your own fault with the late payments you need to own up to your past mistakes and not try and cover over the cracks.

the late payment on my husbands loan was correct however caused by Barclays not completing a transfer from his US dollar account to sterling account, which they late rectified, but resulted in a returned direct debit.

The late payments with british gas were as a a result of them trying to take the full balance via direct debit on a number of occassions which was not what we had agreed, they corrected the error, and then went on to take the direct debit a week earlier than agreed, which was not acceptable as the agreed payment dates were in line with when my salary was paid to me.

The late payment with Barclaycard was my own fault as I forgot to transfer money to cover the payment, however Barclaycard obviously felt like I am a good enough customer to amend as a gesture of goodwill on that occasion.

with all due respect thomasdown this thread was posted for other people who have found themselves in similar situations, not for people like you to criticise, cheers!
