I am moving house and someone I know who was doing the same hired someone to come in and clean their oven. I was wondering if anyone in Dundee area knew of such a firm who would do that. The oven is getting on a bit and thought if it was cleaned professionally it would make all the difference.

Um, does anyone look inside the oven when buying the house? If it is getting on a bit then,is the rest of the kitchen? I'd borrow a nice vase if you haven't a spare to detract from the older oven and put some nice flowers in them.:D
Any standard tin of oven cleaner or fairy power will get it clean enough,I'd have thought. Maybe I'm just a manky Dundonian that didn't check the insode of the oven :o before we bought the house.
Use the money you'd spend on a nicely arranged basket of plants from Dobbies or Turriff's in the Ferry theirs are just as good!) and put it by the front door.

For the outside if it is stainless steel then get stainless steel rescue (Tesco Riverside stock it last time I bought it)
clean well, then rub with a kitchen roll dipped in a tiny bit of baby oil.

roasting coffee still sells houses apparently.;)

Thing is I wouldn't bother as much but the person who has bought our house is someone I have known for a long time. I imagine her house will be left absolutely immaculate including the oven which I suspect will never ever have gotten as dirty as mine.
Guess I will have to con hubby inot doing it. Think my arthritis will be really bad by the time we leave!!!!

    Ah, I see!

Better haul the washing machine out too then- you'd be amazed what gets under it and behind it- not any lost socks, just bits of toast and the like:confused:

    good Luck with your move.:D

I do - it's a good guide to the "standards" of the place. One place I looked at had stalactites of carbon hanging from a self-cleaning oven. Then I noticed the thick layer of grease on the light fittings...
