Signing on and staying elsewhere for a few weeks

My stepson in unemployed and living in an area of high unemployment. He is getting benefits (presumably job seekers allowance) and needs to sign on each week (?).

He is coming to stay with us in a couple of weeks, for at least a fortnight possibly a bit longer. He will be looking for work here where employment prospects are far better. He is worried about how this will affect his benefits as he won't be able to sign on where he usually does.

We've told him to talk to the job centre as we don't have any experience of this.

Best bet is to phone his local job centre, stating he wont be able to sign on at his usual job centre and give the reason. Then there may be options for him to sign on by post or in another job centre.

I would say find the number for his local job centre and ring them in the morning.

If he is going away to look for work and can prove it they may accept ES90 action but this would be at the discretion of the adviser, can you make him a few interviews with some agencies?
He would then sign at your local office. They only usually accept this once so he could stay with you for three weeks. Other option is transfer his claim and then transfer it back.
