Many years ago I split with my partner and as she wiped me out of cash I started to struggle to pay bills any way one of the bills I stopped paying was council tax.
I now pay this through a debt collection company but as far as I know it was never changed to a single person if I contact my council will I be able to claim back money if I have been paying for two people?? your help would be great as I still don't have a clue about this

You can ask for the discount to be applied but you would need to satisfy the council as to why you didn't claim earlier and show that you were entitled to it..I now pay this through a debt collection company but as far as I know it was never changed to a single person if I contact my council will I be able to claim back money if I have been paying for two people?? your help would be great as I still don't have a clue about this
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
