Will wooden DG windows devalue a house?

I want to ask the NI peeps specifically as I think our tastes may differ from the mainland.
We're doing up our house and, budget allowing, will replace the existing single glazed wooden windows. I'm wondering what to get, PVC or wood. Personally I love wooden everything and am very anti-plastic but no doubt a time will come when we will sell our house and I don't want to make a change that would put buyers off. We have a 1940s ex-HE house.
Does anyone know if buyers generally are put off by non-PVC?

My personal choice is wood, I know it's more maintenance but I think that if it's cared for properly it's far nicer than the white plastic pvc windows.
I'm not against pvc windows on new build houses I just dont like them on older houses, but as I say it's just my personal opinion

given a choice off two identical houses
1 with pvc
1 with wood
I would go for the PVC
Having said that ,I dont like Brown pvc ,I prefer white or oak .0 -
Wood needs constant maintenance - sanding then painting / varnishing and will need replaced in time.
PVC is practically maintenance free so first choice every time.
(And actually no dearer than 'good' wooden windows - if not cheaper)0 -
We have wooden d/g and haven't regretted it. It takes a couple of days maintenance (at most) every two years and is well worth it as (in my opinion) it looks so much better than upvc.

Remember wood is more expensive to begin with could add rather than take away value from your home. Also consider wood well maintained will last many lifetimes, PVC can discolour in theory should be replaced every 10 years?
Its a trade off either way but when I had to make this decision last year I went for wood grain PVC as I thought the white looked cheap.

Wood effect PVC seems to be the same price as wood but they are both a good bit dearer than white PVC. White PVC looks like plastic but the oak coloured stuff is very convincing - I was totally fooled. I'm not too worried about the maintenance side of things - I have a husband for that kind of

TBH I think if I liked the house i'd live wiht the windows whatever they were. We used to have pvc and they were great for keeping in heat and keeping out drafts. We now have old drafty sash windows which I love although they aren't very sensible. I'd say go for what it is you want, you're going to be living there a while yet and it isn't clear cut which people prefer.
Unless you're in an old house in a conservation area or something and then you have to go with the wood I think??0
