A cunning plan (but a humungous mortgage!)

Hi Ed
Not planning as such but more got it at the back of our minds. We're in London (as is probably obvious) so one option in a few years may be to move out/ downsize and hopefully buy outright or release equity.0 -
Back here after being quiet for a while. We've had a few bits and bobs to pay into the OP savings over the past few days - received £60 cashback for our energy switch, before the switch has even gone through! And should see another £30 from Martin's Energy Club on top of that.
Also received £32 on our Nationwide Flex accounts and have moved that one to our mortgage overpayment pot. There should also be a couple more cashbacks to come from TCB.
Just also realised I should make a note of my siggy SOA as it changes! So here goes:
Mortgage 1: £243,034 0.99%, i/o, ends May 2026 MFW date 20 Aug 2020
Mortgage 2: 163,233 0.99%, repaymt, ends Oct 2033
Total: £406,267
OP savings: £29,760 Investment: £62,461
Balance: £314,0460 -
Sig update
Mortgage 1: £243,034 0.99%, i/o, ends May 2026 MFW date 20 Aug 2020
Mortgage 2: (was £166,966) Now £162,623 0.99%, repaymt, ends Oct 2033
Total: £405,657
OP savings: £30,130 Investment: £62,461, Offset £110
Balance: £312,9560 -
So, I've applied for £2,500 of Royal Mail shares... Will see what happens! If they pay the expected 6-7% dividend then it's better than any savings account. But obviously overall it's a stock market gamble.0

Irrc our mortgage interest is approx £15 per day so I'm now thinking of things in chunks of that. Better go for £15pd challenge in Nov I think.0

I guess we will get £750 of RM shares in the morning. Not sure whether to hold or sell - will see what happens.0

Crikey! I have sold 70 of my 227 shares at £5.07 which is £337 after charges. Holding the rest as a long term investment but wanted to cash out some now. Who knows where they will go next but I'm happy to stick that chunk into the OP account.0

Have finally got around to changing our home insurance and have cut it from £450 (492 really as we were paying monthly) to £255!! Really happy with that and its with LV= so are a Which? recommended firm too. On a bit of a roll this month0

Very proud of myself for transferring the £200 saved off our insurance renewal into the overpayment account. It was quite hard to do as we were paying monthly last time so won't feel the benefit to the tune of £200 for five months. But I figured that if we didn't do it straight away, we would never transfer it. I have also sold two items on ebay and made £30 there after fees and postage.
Time for a sig update, I am including some ISAs which I wasn't before and this gets us under £300k - yay!
