Just an update iontophoresis course finished and hasn't worked. I am still sweating as much as before. Nurse said am the first person she had who it hasn't worked for. Didn't have much else to say and next step is to go back to my original hospital and Dermatology department and see what the next step is.

Am rather guttered I been back and forth hospital for month getting 8 buses sometimes as the hospital pretty far from my home but the one I was at doesn't do iontophoresis or the botox. My hands have gone really dry when am not sweating and skin peeling off. I been using hand cream seems to help but painful.

I have appointment with botox to discuss if it worked in a couple months and the nurse said sometimes they will give you another go (even though meant to be every year) if it didn't work first time. Rather dreading having it done again as was very painful and my armpits being very sensitive since. Shaving is painful and some soaps and deodorants irrate them.

Going to ask about treating the anxiety part first before think about operation. Just think its something have to live with. Just don't want it to get in the way of dream job of makeup artist.

You might try a hand cream/ body lotion designed to replenish the skin's natural moisturising factors. Skin being overwetted can flush out compounds like urea and lactic acid, your skin has obviously had that for an extended period. Medical grade lanolin supplies many of the lipids found in the skin barrier, egg lecithin is another good source of lipids.

You might also try being a little gentler on the rest of your skin whilst it recovers - avoid harsh sulphate surfactants and alkaline soaps, wash with something containing cocoamidopropyl betaine instead, even carry it with you as a hand wash.

An alternative to traditional anti perspirants and deodorants is a product based on coconut oil which is naturally anti bacterial but not irritating or stripping. A store on Etsy was making a product based on that which I heard good things about on skin forums but I forget the name. :o

Do you need to wet shave? That strips the skin's protective barrier. Could you epilate or wax? Still can irritate but less frequently than shaving so again give your skin barrier the chance to heal. Even dry electric shaving can be a little gentler tho not as close. :(

    HTH.

My hands only been dry and chapped last 2 weeks and its a side effect of the treatment that and itchy hands and feet. Its seemed to clear up using coconut oil (though dog kept licking my hands and the floor as I had it on my feet lol) And also Neutrogena hand cream worked well. Gone a little chapped again after my last treatment yesterday so back to hand cream.

I have a look for the natural deodorant as my armpits very sensitive since botox. Been fine all my life as well. My skin is very sensitive though so I tend to use natural products.

I keep getting a rash across my chest and neck when am embarrassed or hot. Thats also making me anxious as well everyone can tell when am stressed or upset as have this big rash. Started when I was being bullied a few years ago by someone in class and when I spoke to teacher about it she pointed out I had a rash and i'd never had it before. My mum said my aunt got it when she was younger as she was very anxious/shy person infront of other people. Had tests to rule out it being related to the sweating though like allergy tests.

I can't really afford to get waxed at salon and I think i'd end up with big hairy armpits if I have to wax myself as be to chicken lol. I only shave about once a week as I have really fine fair hair and doesn't really grow.

    Thanks for the advice.

I can fully see where your coming from, I suffer from it as well, but mine starts in my head, then down by back.

Even on a winters day i sweat like a pig, my hair looks like I have stepped out of a shower.

I tried the prescription deordrant and that was no gd, weird thing is sweat normally under my arms.

I don't know if you have tried it, but I found Sure Roll on to be good - it cuts out about 90% of the sweating from my back, Sanex is another one that I found ok and Body Shop - like a stick deordrant - but Sure is the best for me

i can't get referrals - I have excuses ur overweight, ur depressed, ur diabetic.

    I find deordrants like
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I wouldn't have that. Get to that doctors office and ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Mine tried to fob me off with oh just anxiety. When I asked how can a baby be anxious? couldn't answer that. I did my research via internet just google Hyperhidrosis and you will find lots of websites like nhs one about what treatments are avaliable. My doctor told me there wasn't much could be done just wear dark loose clothing and wash regular. When I said well what about botox and operation. Couldn't answer me again and referred me. They just trying to cut spending and I don't think they understand what Hyperhidrosis is as its not very common.

I already use sure deodorant doesn't really help nothing does.
