Paid debt leaving file

Hello, I had some debt in 2008, 2 credit cards and a couple of store cards they all defaulted and were in default for possibly aroound a year till i paid up all the store cards in full. The 2 credit cards are still in default and I have been trying to pay them up but it is proving a little difficult to find out who the debt is now with as neither send me any letters or other contact and i havent moved address. What I would like to know is, once i do get in contact with them and pay both credit card debts off how long will it be till they are off my file after they've been paid? All the debts defaulted in 2008 and will all be paid up this year, will they all be on my file for another 6 years once all paid?

i think that they will stay on your file for 6 years but no longer as a default as account settled or paid. from what i believe is that creditors will look that you defaulted for a period but if u have been repaying recent debts i think this goes for you also!0

If defaulted, they come off 6 years from the default date, matter when or whether you settle them.
So in your case that is 2014, come what may.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
