I ordered a book from Tesco on 2nd March but it still hasn't arrived. They sent me an email which said it would arrive on 9th. Nothing came so I contacted them. Now I've been told there was a delay with the dispatch and it was sent out today. They sent it with Royal Mail and they said it will take up to 10 working days but due to the weather it can take longer
and its a book I want for my course, so its not as if I can wait and wait.
I bought the book from Tesco expecting it to arrive on time but have been let down. I could have ordered the same book from Amazon, but I choose Tesco as I've never bought anything from Amazon so didn't know what their service might be like. I thought I might as well buy it in Tesco and get the clubcard points too.
When I looked at Tesco's bookstore I was impressed with the selection of books available, and thought I'd found the best place to order other books in the future. Now I am not so sure, I might as well try Amazon or some other ones.
I've just been checking on the Amazon site and I see that their free delivery is 3 - 5 business days after dispatch. They even offer next working day delivery. Wish I'd bought it there instead.
In all fairness, its the first time I've ever had any problems with Tesco.
So I'm wondering where others in NI order books, and is there usually such a long wait?

I usually order from Amazon and usually have no issues when I pay for delivery. However, I placed an order, early on Monday, paid for next day delivery ( around £7 ), only to find that it wasn't despatched until Tuesday and expected delivery date is 14th ( thursday ).
Sometimes the problem is that the supplier will be a separate company that sells through Amazon. In my case above the items were being sold and delivered by Amazon.
I guess you can never be 100% about any deliveries, as many threads here will confirm.0 -
I have Amazon Prime, and have noticed recently that even items sold by Amazon themselves are taking longer and longer to arrive. It used to be that Prime gave you free next day delivery, but it seems to have changed now so that delivery is within 1-3 business days (even though it still says 1 day on their checkout page). It looks to me as if they're sending an awful lot more items through Home Delivery Network (ugh) now than through Royal Mail, which seems to be the reason for the slow delivery.0

I have bought books online from Asda, Waterstones, Amazon and had no bother. Infact Asda was the fastest.:beer:0
