Advice for anyone getting married in Italy

I found out today when I went to start printing off the forms etc for me to use in the next few weeks that the procedures for British nationals getting married in Italy changed on 01 March 2013.

Instead of obtaining the Certificate of No Impediment and then forwarding it with the rest of the paperwork and appropriate fee to the consulate for the Nulla Osta, you now have to:

Obtain Certificate of No Impediment (£30 each in Scotland)
Complete bi-lingual Statutory Declarations in the presence of a solicitor/public notary (cost unknown)
Send the CONI and Statutory Declaration to the Legalisation Office of the FCO in Milton Keynes for them to be leaglised (£30 per document so £120 total plus return postage)
When they have been returned to you, send to an official translator in Italy for translation (cost unknown)

Also check if your particular marriage hall needs any further documentation but it looks like you don't need to send your birth certificates (and divorce papers) to Italy in advance now.

If you have already started the paperwork under the old procedures you can still apply to the consulate until 31 May 2013.
