Hi All
Normally a poster on the weddings board but thought you creative ladies (and gents?) might be able to help on this one!
I am making marshmallow trees as our table centres, was originally going to do different types of sweet trees but I can figure out how to get wrapped sweets to stick to the poly balls!
Anyhoo, have done a couple of marshmallow ones and used cocktail sticks to keep them in place, they have gone down a hit so have decided to keep it simple with the marshmallows, what Im struggling with is how am I going to keep the marshmallows fresh until the big day as Im not sure I want to be up the night before doing it. Would wrapping the marshmallows that have been stuck in the balls in foil work at keeping them fresh, if so, any idea how long for?
Thanks in advance xx

I've not made them but I would be tempted to buy some marshmellows, take them out their packet and put them in an airtight container to see how long they stay fresh. If they stay fresh for long enough could you make the whole tree but leave the 'ball' of marshmallow off and then someone could just slot them onto the tree on the dayBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

I would cover the ball in foil, make up some very stiff icing and pipe that or dab a spot on to hold each marshmallow in place, work as quickly as possible and then as the above poster says store in a very large container and try to make it as airtight as possible? I would stay away from using cocktail sticks etc, I would worry about inebriated guests or children falling foul of them.0

Would wrapping the tree top in clingfilm not keep them fresh or even a large plastic bag with no holes over the top and sellotaped round the stem (round the bag) keep them fresh. you could always try wrap some marshmallows up in clingfilm and see how long they keep soft for and also as other person said buy some and keep them out and see how long they stay soft for.0

what about wrapping the whole thing in cellophane? As long as its taped up airtight i would think it would be ok. somethink like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Florist-Craft-Clear-Cellophane-Large-roll-800mm-x-100m-/260983907017?pt=UK_Crafts_FloralSupplies_SM&hash=item3cc3da62c9

this lady tells you how to attach wrapped sweets to poly balls

i wouldnt have cocktail sticks either
or unwrapped sweets (:o sorry, but i wouldnt eat them)
if they are wrapped, even if not eaten, people might take a few and pop them in their bag at the end of the night
rather than you being left with lots of half eaten trees0 -
hi i made sweet trees by using sweets in wrappers and i stuck them on with double sided tape and it worked very well0

To make sweet trees out of wrapped sweets use a glue gun.
As regards the marshmallows, I've used cocktail sticks with the pointed ends cut off.
The marshmallows will be fine covered in yellow wrap for a week or two. I usually do mine the week before Xmas for family and they've kept fine.
My DD has even eaten hers in Feb and said they're ok HTH

I used melted white chocolate to stick sweets on mine so I guess it would work the same for MarshmallowsNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
