    They are just being HBOS

you would say that Kenshaz - but a majority of lenders charge a fee

shall we name lenders that don't charge this if they held the deeds in the first place?

the fees appear on everyone's statement ginger-nuts - IF you pay mortgage off then the early discharge fee is relevant to what was on your original mortgage offer
  • Ron..

I too 2yrs ago paid of my mortgage with the Halifax & also had to pay the £50 dispatch fee for my title deeds! In which i agree is a Rip-Off..but what really made me laugh..was when they offered to store them for me in the banks vault for £70 a year! They made a fortune out of me over my mortgage years..then to put the final nail in the coffin offer thier paid services for vaultage space!

You'd think the least they would do after paying a 25yr mortgage to them is too give you your Title Deeds as a good will gesture after being a loyal customer to them over a quarter of a century! And drop the Crap suggestion of then storeing them for you for £70 a year!

Exactly so why should it cost £50?and they are not in the business of making unfair profit ,but they do need to make profit to pay intermediaries.
I find this statement of "to make profit to pay intermediaries" totally unjust and absolutely ridiculous.

Where do intermediaries ever receive and cut of the £50 deeds release fee??

You really need to get to fact right as this is a consumer site and you are making misleading statement that are clearly incorrect.

If you want to present a balanced attitude, then please do not make misleading statements.
