hey all, im about to start getting ready for my 1st self assessment tax return?
do i have to have receipt for everything i wish to claim back on?
i haven't kept hardly any fuel receipt's, also does anyone know a good resource site to tell me what i can actually claim back on? what % of mobile , internet costs etc?
i work on the railway, so fuel, internet & mobile are the 3 main things i wish to claim back on as they are essential, oh and i use the bus/train to work 50% of the time but dont have the tickets for them either i just have a monthly pass i pay for (lesson learned for next year i suppose)
thanks for your time

If you're self employed you should have registered with HMRC when you started, and be paying Class 2 NICs.
If you're not self employed, you probably wouldn't need to complete a Self Assessment return.
How have you determined you need to complete a tax return? I assume you're talking about the 2012-13 tax year? HMRC haven't sent out tax returns (or notices to complete tax returns) yet. Or if for 2011-12, you're a bit late...0
