Halifax Building Society

Do not use any Halifax or HBOS products!!

Have been a Bank Of Scotland/Halifax customer for over 30 years - but not for much longer. Loyalty holds no water. They spend a fortune on attracting new customers and do nothing to retain good honest ones!!

Wrote to Chief Executive (Andy Hornby) regarding complaint on daughters gaurantor mortgage arrangements.

Passed to 'Executive Office'. Got telephone call to say sorry for way matters had been handled, etc.etc..... and that complaint would now be monitored...........One week later letter followed 'Mr Andy Hornby asked me to write....all hot air promises!!

Two months on, numerous telephone calls, faxes..........no further forward. They are not interested.

Got sorted elsewhere in 4 hours from somewhere that appreciates that it is customers who make pay days possible.

HBOS no more!

Trouble is between us we could all post negative information/ experiences about providers ( financial and others) no doubt cover the whole market.

A comment like do not use XYZ holds no water

In balance at the moment I would say the HBoS group have a competitive product range ( not always the best- but comeptitive in most areas) and one of the best service levels in processing new mortgage cases

    I agree with PAyless.

I've been a customer with them for years and on the whole they have been excellent and last year when I needed to sort out a mortgage and changed it approximately 3 times due to delays in selling my house they were fab.

Maybe one day they will mess me around but until then I will happily stick with them and comments like the poster has just made will make no difference.

Maybe you will get it all sorted but it might take longer than you wanted.

They are not a building society!

If it was a complaint they would have had to follow their complaint guidelines, or reach deadlock and at that point refer you to the ombudsman - after 8 weeks. have you got to this stage?

We don't know enough of your reason to say to not use them, and what the letter promises says

Obviously you wrote straight to excecutive. could you not have followed the normal procedure and if not satisfied done that

    complaints procedure:

Regarding mortgages though, they offer the same deals to existing customers, as they do new, so unsure what you are saying about new customers
