  • house is worth £390k. OH father put in £140k. Mortgage of £193k. Equity of £57k.

    To get the house off OH's father and fully into you and your partner's names you need (a) to pay the father his initial £140k and his share of the equity (b) get him removed from the mortgage.

    On your salary it can't be done.

    Sounds to me as if you have champagne taste and beer money. I imagine that lots of people have dream houses, but if they cannot afford to live in them then that is what they remain, a dream.
    I can afford anything that I want.
    Just so long as I don't want much.
