Default on Credit Card

Hi

Please can I ask for some advice.

Last year we planned to sell our house and buy with no mortgage. Then pay £40K of debts off to be debt free and mortgage free end of 2013

We sold our house in October last year for 895K (500k mortgage) and offered £285K on another house, as the seller would not move out we went and rented. it was not a normal move as we had 3 horses, tractors and farm machinery to either sell of move so all quite a job.

We finally moved into a rental and 3 months later moved into a new house mortgage free after the last move.

Now the cringe, I cancelled my partners Direct debits to pay her credit cards, she set them all up in her new bank account bar one in error (RBS Card).

I only did it because was fed up with the kids using me card for Xbox and Itunes/Ipad games.

Now we find the card company RBS sent apparently reminders and a default letter (Youch) to old address, we never got the post nor did we know we weren't paying it. We were a bit stressed over this period 2 moves in 3 months although I won't make excuses.

My partner called I think is it Tritons. I spoke to them I couldn't pay it all in one go as was £22K, I offered £600 a month and paid them via debit card and set up a standing order for the monthly I can actually pay £1K a month for next few months and later this year can pay it off.

We have written to RBS asking for all the paper work, I am pretty sure they will ignore our letter although recorded delivery.

Will they send us any paper work we have asked for?

Apart from a default on her credit file does anything else happen that's
bad?

Now I paid for this new house cash but she is down as part owner can they take or do anything on our house?

I am happy to pay the debt off and some what embarrassed, not that bothered that she cant get a loan or more cards as we are going to have them all paid off by Xmas anyway?

How do I know RBS actually sold them the debt?

Thanks

Youch ...

Not really one for the bankruptcy board, it won’t come close to that.

So long as you keep paying, nothing else will happen.
