Saffronflowers takes on the Bailiffs Diary

  • Hi Saversam - yes he is, the person that I was told has been assigned, certified, however HMCS had no record but found the local county court and double checked.
  • A little update - I have been speaking to the Head of Revenue and Finance at my local council, who has been extremely shocked and surprised at what has gone on!!!!

I have to say that he has been nothing but helpful and some of the information I have given him he is investigating not only with the company I dealt with but the other one they deal with, which is a real step in the right direction.

It has been a long hard and stressful road up until this point but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As far as my money goes, he has been briliant he will refund it from the council with compensation and then collect if off the bailiff company and is insiting that they write an aplogy letter!!!! (Nice peice of evidence.

Excellent stuff Saffronflowers. You should be really proud of yourself. I think so many crooks get away with all sorts of awful behaviour becuase so few people feel strong enough to challenge them. Sometimes it's apathy but often it's the "It's no good, you can't beat the system" feeling. And you have shown it is worth it. Well done you.

  • Here is a really interesting quote from an email to my from the OFT!!

I have not heard however of any banks (or other debit card issuers) charging a fee for processing debit card fee payments.

Thursday will be crunch day to bring this to a conclusion either good headlines or bad we will wait and see!!

  • Right this saga is coming to an end.

    Acheived so far.

Confirmation that all my charges will be refunded by the council and they will get it off the bailiffs.

The bailiff will send me an apology letter.

    Interest from the media.

Meetng with the Head of Revenue on Tuesday.

Confirmation from the OFT that percetage charges on debit card transaction are unfair.

What can I acheive out of this meeting

Refund for all people who have been charged for debit card transactions.

A better systme for complaining about bailiffs to the council

I need facts and figures, so come on peeps give me your best, this really could be ground breaking change for everyone.

God luck saffron. Behind you all the way. I wish my council had been as goo with me. They wont even talk. All they say is it is out of our hands now. And i have to deal with bailiffs. There should be a better way of collecting arrears of council tax. If we cant afford to pay that how the hell are we supposed to pay a much bigger debt. And the one thing i strongly object to is if you miss a month you have lost the right to pay in installments. How wrong is that. Then you get taken to court for the whole years tax. That is like paying for your electricity in advance. I wish some one could do something about this. Sorry if i have hijacked your thread saffron. Anyone fancy doing an Erin Brokovich. xxxxxxxxx

totally agree Smashedbooboo, it seems to be the way of the world that the less you have in monetary terms, the more you are penalised by companies what with discounts for paying by dd but not cash and the fact the bailiffs think once a case has been passed to them they have a right to use it print money GRRRRRRRR :(

    All the poor should revolt!!!:)
