Shopping in northern Norfolk
Options
Although born in Hunstanton, I haven't lived in Norfolk since I was 6 months old and although I spent several vacations there as a small child, I've only been back twice as an adult and stayed in a hotel in Norwich. Now that my labrador is gone, we're wanting a vacation this year and we thought we'd visit Norfolk for a week or two and rent a cottage.
We eat organic so if anyone could tell me where there are:
According to family history stuff I found, the English side of my family mostly lived in the north of Norfolk so that's where I want to explore.
We eat organic so if anyone could tell me where there are:
- supermarkets with organic food eg Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, ASDA, Lidl
- deliveries from Ocado, Abel & Cole or Riverford
- farmer's markets
- organic farm shops
- butchers which do organic meat

Hi Edwardia - I'm a North Norfolk-y too and I'm still here!
There is a Sainsburys in Hunstanton and a huge one just opened in King's Lynn. Asda, Morrisons, Lidl also in King's Lynn.
Waitrose is in Swaffham. There is a farm shop at Heacham (Norfolk Lavender place) which has lots to offer and the Norfolk Deli just outside Holt at Letheringsett is wonderful - good restaurant too, often features in the Telegraph/Guardian.
Most of the supermarkets deliver to most of N.Norfolk so you could always do an online order.
Hope you enjoy a lovely stay.0 -
There's a new Waitrose opened at North Walsham. There are Morrison's & LIDL in Fakenham.

There's a lovely big Waitrose in Swaffam but not sure how far they deliver and a Morrisons on the edge of Fakenham but have never been in so not sure if they have much organic.
Leveringsett near Holt might be a bit west but found this,

I'm sure you would find produce/products in Burnham Market. Humble pie deli might be a good place.
or perhaps these might help.

Theres also a farm shop on the coastal road between Holme and Thornham.
We love north Norfolk, but the area has become quite expensive and upmarket over recent years so I'm sure you'll find loads of organics. Trying to find another deli that we have often passed on google maps so will post when I find it. We are less that an hrs drive but when we visit Sunny Hunny it's usually for a bag of chips and the fab sunsets from the cliff tops after a visit to Fakenham or Wells or Holkham beach. Out of season is when we prefer to go. Been the first on Holkham beach several times on Christmas day. Love the place, its like a tonic and helps to recharge our batteries.0 -
Just thought, Picnic Fayre of Cley & the deli in Brancaster both sell organic cheese & Stratton's in Swaffham (hotel, deli & cafe) sell some organic produce.0
-
yes, the Picnic Fayre at Cley-next-to-the-Sea is just wonderful with fresh artisan bread, organic veg, deli stuff, yummy cakes and savouries. i had a marvellous time there when i was holiday some years ago. it's a must-see for foodies!!0

Holt is a lovely town and there are some brilliant food shops there including Larners and Byfords that sell locally sourced produce and fairly upmarket brands.
I never really pay much attention to what is organic or not but given the nature of both places I expect much of what they sell would fit the bill.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Thank you all so much for the info :T OH hasn't been to Norfolk and loves the idea. He says he can get a discount off cottages via work, so he's going to print me off a map so I can stick the shops, markets, supermarkets etc on there and see whether there are any nice cottages there.0
