I have this laptop and it's fantastic. Very happy with it. If you do buy it, get an extra 512mb from the crucial.com for £15.99 I think it is. You just slot in the extra memory on the bottom of the laptop. That will bring you up to your 1gb.Ruby 380 -
Totally agree with Ruby - I bought the same laptop back in January and it's great. I too was looking for a sub £400 but decent laptop and after reading lots of reviews I decided on this one. I bought mine direct from the HP site as they were doing £40 off your first purchase if you sign up to e-mails. I've had a quick look and they are still doing the offer - I can't find the laptop at this price however. Mine was purchased just prior to the release of Windows Vista so this may be how I got it so cheap... The total order value was £356.32 and the laptop was delivered in under 24 hours. Admittedly I did purchase the laptop as a business user and on the HP site you will find it in the notebooks for business section. Good luck!0

depending on which processor u want, u can probably get a good one for less than 350, for the specs you want.
also, if u need to travel a lot with the laptop, its probably worth going for bigger names such as toshiba and sony. Hp's not bad as well. They all offer collect and delivery for most countries.
Toshiba is currently offering cashback on laptop purchases. I believe that there are websites offering cashback for HP laptops as well,..but its only for the higher end ones. so probably not worth looking at them.
lastly, if u r a student, with a valid student and NUS card, u might get good bargains from the student store. its a national laptop partnership to provide better deals for students

Could I suggest a few options.
MCSCOM.CO.UK - just sourced a dell inspiron for my mother and it went very smoothly Delivered in 48 hours and came complete with 3 year warranty for sub £400. (1Gb ram, 120Gb HD, AMD Turion x2 Processor, Windows Vista Home Premium)
Ebay shops - Dell outlet have a store and offer some excellent deals if cosmetic appearance isn't that critical (scratches etc.)
Laptops direct have some good prices too.
Best of luck.Keep smiling,

I have ordered one from musthave100.co.uk being delivered Tuesday.
Site looks a bit dodgy but have spoken to a few MSE'ers and they've had some laptops from them. Great prices and really good spec so it seems to all be legit.
Have a look...

i never quite got around to buyin a new laptop, but now i am looking for one...i have seen a sony vaio on comet.co.uk for £499 with 2gb RAM, 160Gb HD, dual core processor and vista home premium...i for one think that this is a bargain, am i right?? http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=420158&tab=specification
i have also seen one on play.com for £429.99 Hewlett packard, 2gb RAm, 160Gb HD, vista home premium but it has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK53 processor ... http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/653/860/-/3499291/Hewlett-Packard-Pavilion-GZ974EA-AMD-Athlon-64-X2-TK53-2GB-160GB-DVD-SM-15-4-Vista-Home-Premium-Laptop-Notebook/Product.html?searchtype=genre
now i for one would prefer to spend £429 rather than £499 as i am sure everyone would...but which is best? is it worth me paying that extra money for the VAIO? One more thing is i only have the funds available in my paypal account. i have seen the VAIO on dabs.com for £499 and they accept paypal, but ive never heard of them before and not really sure i wanna spend my money with them if they arent a reputable company. http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=4SD7
anyone know any good sites that will accept paypal?0 -
