hi to everybody, you are all CHAMPIONS,and your advice would be priceless,at the moment my debts are natwest cc £2000,halifax cc £1500,direct line loan 10000 paid 15 months 192 pm,alliance&l 10000 paid 15 months 219 pm,me and my partner both work and we can just about manage these debts at the moment but i worry non stop what maybe around the corner,i always seem to be sat at the table with statements, pen, paper, calculator, ect, ect, and nothing ever gets sorted (scrambled head syndrome)would it be possible or advisable for me to contact these companies and ask for a short break in payments to give me a bit of thinking time to combat these debts with my own DMP,thanks
If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

Hi there codheadling....it may be an idea to post a SOA...see southernscosers sticky thread..as we may be able to help you make cut backs....as for a DMP I don't know...somebody else will be along to help you...if you could sort it out without a DMP it would be better for your credit rating...0

Hi there! As said, SOA will help so that it is clear where your priorities lie, don't forget to include APR's etc. And a warm welcome to DFW!!0

Hi and welcome,
As already said post yur SOA and im sure we will be able to offer advice.
With regards to doing your own DMP it is possible and I have sorted out my own BUT it did take nearly 4 months before everyone excepted and a lot of letters and phone calls.
If I was you I would still contact the CCCS and ask there advice. you do not have to accept there DMP if you do not want to but you do get a client reference number that you can still quote on your paperwork.
Im not saying commit fraud by writing saying the letter is from the CCCS but I found just adding "I have been in contact with the CCCS (Ref 111223399) and would like to ask you freeze interest on my account..." you get my point.
With a full SOA we will have a bterr idea of what options are availble to you.
Well done and good luck

Fab advice from those before me, but to give you something else to compare the options with, have a look at the snowball calculator - https://www.whatsthecost.com and put your credit card figures in there and have a play around. It may not be what you choose but at least you will have looked at all your options.
Good luck and keep posting.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I did my own DMP with the National Debt Helpline website they have a payment calculator on there and template letters all of which you can download today or request a pack.
I changed my phone number and do it all by letter which has had its advantages as they tend to say one letter with one thing and one with another and I have been able to trip them up and almost blackmail them into taking offers and had success in getting interest refunded.
I am the kind of person that would worry if someone else was in control I need to be the one to reply to those letters so my own DMP was right for me, but I can see the pluses in others doing it for you as that first few months can drive you to distraction with all the computer generated letters that bare no resemblance to the letters you send!0
