Perscription - Buying glasses/lenses on the net??

Hi,

So i went to D&A today with my free eye test voucher and turns out that in Scotland you do get free eye tests(when i said i had a free voucher she said you dont need that and she doesnt have any of my CC details)....bummer as i travelled beyond 3 opticians just as i had this free voucher!

I now have a small problem, i had carried out my eye test with them, but they didnt give me my perscription. Can i call them up tomorrow and ask for my perscription and all the details as i want to buy glasses online! Had a look at the sites to buy glasses and they want so many details(spere, cylindar etc)...can they give me this all over the phone, also they said today that i have an + 0.5 asignatim in my left eye....what does this mean, can they give me the details of this to????

Also 2 sub questions, first one is i still have to have a contact test as they said your perscription for this might be different that for my glasses. Can i go to a different optiocians for this(a closer to home one) as either way ill be paying for this(plan to buy my contacts on the net as i have been in the past). However D&A have my address details and glasses percription now, i actually have a contact test booked with them for a few days....what should i do?????

& finally a little challenge fore you, whats the cheapest site to buy these glasses????? police v2959

    1. ask them to post/fax you a copy of your prescription. They are legally oblighed to give you a copy after your sight test.
    2. Astigmatism is just part of your prescription (the cylindar and axis bit)
    3. you can have your contact lens consultation anywhere, but you should bring your copy of your sight test results.
    4. if you don't wanna go to D&A for your CLs just ask them to cancel your appointment, and if you don't want them contacting you ask them to close your file.
    5. sorry, can't help with the cheap spex websites but i'm sure theres a thread on it somewhere.

I bought my glasses from selectspecs.com I can vouch for them. excelelnt service and very good prices.

when u get your prescription, u can email it to online stores and they will be able to help u choose and advice you on your specs. :)

I ordered my specs and prescription sunglasses online from these guys Fashion Specs Direct
and I was very happy not just with the specs, but they also called me straight away as they had a question about my prescription - so it was very reassuring.

I also bought glasses from Fashion Specs Direct. I wasn't sure what to expect as they were cheap but I placed the order late on Sunday night (6th may) and they were delivered Wed morning (9th May). The monday was a bank holiday too! Great for the money - I am happy to recommend and will be buying more off them in the future. I also found a 5% code too.

Hi pbright - I had a free sight test with d&a and got 1000 nectar points. After it was done I got my prescription from them and said thanks very much im going to order my glasses from the internet. The optician was quite scathing about internet opticians and it was actually quite amusing to hear him rant on when I knew that internet opticians are absolutely fine (ive used them before) after ordering my specs from glasses direct I went to a specsavers shop with the paper prescription from d&a. They gave me a futher sight test free of charge to establish what lenses I needed and I have found that in terms of monthly disposables I cannot beat specsavers SHOP - not internet - on price at £8 per month including lenses. solutions and aftercare. I also have to say that thier service has been excellent and when i initially went and discussed the option of trialling thier lenses (which is free) ording my lenses and solutions from the net and buying stand alone aftercare from them they were absolutely fine about it - unlike d&a!

I can vouch for direct specs - frameless specs with thin and light lenses and anti-scratch coating, plus delivery in about two days for £47. No problems.

And it looks like we made it once again
