Hi - This is written by my brother, needing advice
"My ex, and the mother of my two and a half year old son has phoned CSA on me.
I am quite worried about this, and wondered if somebody can help and advise me.
I earn a basic salary of £17910, I still live with my mother and there are no other children in this house hold. I do not have my son stay here at any time, and according to the .gov.uk calculator, this states I would be liable to pay a £42 a week payment. However, my concern is can they backdate payments, either to when he was born? Or to the date the claim was made?
Please confirm I am extremely anxious about this, as I have other outgoings which I only just meet

If there has been no previous contact with the CSA then the case begins when they contact the non resident parent, so that would be the point where payments would be due from, not backdated to the birth of the child.0 -
Thank you ever so muchLive for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

As stated above, it will be effective from the moment they contacted you, so do start putting the money aside now so if it takes a few weeks before payment arrangements are set up, you don't start with owing more than you can pay.0
-
And keep copies of everything, also making notes of any phone conversations with CSA - and all should be good.0
