13. ... The Editors reserve the right in their reasonable discretion: to disqualify any claimant, competitor or nominee whose contact is contrary to the spirit of the rules or the intention of the promotion and to declare as void any entries based on such conduct; to add to or waive these Rules on reasonable notice; or to cancel the promotion at any stage in the event of circumstances beyond ANL's reason
Given that the promotion is based on a "Starter Home".. the above term in the T&C does make me curious as to how random the draw is going to be. It would be a bit awkward if their prospective winner already owned a property, or was someone who didn't fit the PR profile of photogenic young thing/model couple striving to get on the property ladder0 -

But it also says
Here’s your chance to win a dream starter home from Barratt Homes – you can choose a beautiful, Barratt starter home up to the value of £200,000.
Why not give a loved one the chance to achieve their first step on the property ladder to set them up for life.
So aimed at parents wanting to give grown up children a start on property ladder...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
(Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice)
Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -
i think they mean a business buying it rather than an individual i dont see why they should disqualify anyone who already owns a houseWhat goes around-comes around0

Hi All,
Regarding the issue with 'logging out' there's now a 'Logout' button positioned at the top right hand corner, just above The Mail on Sunday logo, you can only logout when you are signed in.
I hope this helps you all0 -

I just wanted to make people aware of the tax implications of winning and selling a £200,000 house. You will be charged capital gains tax, which depends on individual circumstances, but will be in the region of £49,000 to £56,000. This would also apply if you gave the house to a relative. The main practical way to avoid this would be to live in it for some time as your main home and to declare this to HM Revenue & Customs. If you win this prize and intend to do anything except go and live in the new house permanently (selling your current house if you own one), then you should get specialist advice on the tax implications.0

Thanks for info but surely if it says you can choose to give it to a loved one you can just get it straight in their name with no costs as your name or mine :rotfl: will never have been on it
I dont own a house but i may give it to my son ?0
