Hope someone can help with this...what is considered an acceptable amount by the OR either per year or month for car breakdown cover?

Thanks very much, i'm only after basic cover, haven't got it sorted yet and have found cover around the £30/year mark so i'm sure i can get away with £3 per month

Yes. The OR's are way too busy to check each and every bill. I expect you are planning to go for a higher level of cover soon anyway.........;)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I was under the impression that the OR would want to see proof for everything you claim outgoings on, so will the figures I put down for my car pretty much be taken at face value then?Bankrupt 14/08/07, Early discharge granted 14/02/07...exactly 6 months later

The OR will be expecting to see 'reasonable' domestic expenditure.
Since the OR does not have the time to inspect every bill there is a certain element of trust. But if you take this too far then they can rake your finances over the coals. It is a fine balancing act, and not an exact science.
But in general, the OR will just tell you that you have to find anything they consider a little too much out of the money the leave you.
Sorry not to be of more help, but it is an uncertain situation, and each OR has a different take on what is allowed.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
