Picking up keys on exchange day?

Hiya,

Its completion day! :j

My solictor called me to say I can pick keys up from the estate agents, but rather then walk down thier and find that they didn't have them I gave them a quick call.

They said they can't release them untill they have confirmation that the money is transferred or something and are waiting on a call.

J/w since thier only open till 5:30 is thier a chance we wont get keys today?

Kind of abit annoyed about fact I was told I could get keys then told I wasnt... :(

Your solicitor can tell you the money has left their account.

The agent needs to hear from the vendor's solicitor that the money has arrived in theirs.

It should be confirmed well before 5.30.

You must mean completion day? (In the title)
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • It's generally the afternoon when you get the keys, it feels like they're trying to drag it out, but be assured they're not. I bet you get a phone pretty soon! You could always ask your solicitor to call the vendors solicitor to chivvy along the phone call to the estate agents. Or the estate agents could always call the solicitors, if you pester them they might do it. Best of luck in your new home!
  • I was late! Congratulations.

Until the the transfer of funds is confirmed then little anyone can do.

The latest that I've had keys made available was around 4pm which, in the middle of December, meant we were filling the house with furniture in the dark.
