M+S rip off cancellation charges

We have just tried to cancel an order placed with M+S for some furniture. We have been told there will be a £100 fixed price charge for any amendment or cancellation. The order (£677) was placed in a store on a debit card 4 weeks ago and delivery isn't expected for another 3 weeks. Have we got any rights to cancel this order without charge, or is there any mechanism to calculate a fair cancellation charge. Any help or advice would be welcome.
Thanks

I've had a look on the website and this is what is said about returning furniture:
"Once you have taken satisfactory delivery of furniture, refunds can only be given in accordance with your legal rights. These terms and conditions do not affect your legal rights. Please contact our Customer Service Team on 0845 603 1603 who will explain our refunds process. You will be required to keep the item in a re-saleable condition. If we collect the item from you we will charge you the cost of collection (up to £100)."
I'm just wondering if whoever you spoke to was under the impression you have received the items of furniture. It might be worth ringing again and see what you are told.
Do you have any paperwork that mentions this £100 fee?2014 Target;

If the item is made to order, to your specifications (eg a sofa covered in a specific fabric) they may have started making it already, and incurred costs. It may not be easy to resell, so they ask you to take some of their loss.
As you've paid a deposit, a contract has been made between you and the retailer. Your paperwork will state what your cancellation rights (and responsibilities) are.
