Wear the glasses if you generally "need glasses". It's what you look like. No point trying to cover up fundamentals in my opinion.

Honestly, even if for this interview it would be just fine to wear more casual clothes, no interviewer is ever going to be upset or form a bias against an interviewee wearing a shirt and tie; it's the default for any interview unless they let you know not to. Wear whatever your least showy, most 'standard' suit and tie are (or shirt, trousers and tie if it's hot!).

My personal advice (and one of my main roles is as an interviewer), wear a suit (just make sure it fits you well and is comfortable) and yes with a suit you should ALWAYS wear a tie.

A suit without a tie just looks lazy. It is opinion but I've carried out 20 or 30 + interviews this year so far and that's just what that look says to me. I firmly believe that when you're going for an interview you should actually dress one step above the dress code you would wear on a day to day basis. It's an interview, you should be trying to impress, not just 'fit in'. There is plenty of time for fitting in once you've got the job!

If you need to wear glasses, wear your glasses. I don't think this would make a huge amount of difference but presumably you will be able to see properly and I know that if I'm not wearing my glasses not only do I have a nasty habit of squinting to see things further than the end of my nose, but I also don't feel as confident as I can't see things as clearly as I should.

Going back to the previous point of arriving early and having a look round, you definitely should.

As Little Voice said it will show you are keen and interested but also a great interview tip stemming from that would be find something on your way round, be it a current exibit or a recent installation, or something topical and raise it as a question in the interview.

Something like (and forgive me for bluffing but I know nothing about space 'n' stuff): When I was having a look round earlier I noticed you had a new installation about anti gravity food and drink (for example) could you tell me a little about the process of putting it all together and whether, if I got the job, I would be involved in setting up new installations like that?

By the way - What is the actual title of the post you are applying for and when is the interview?

the interview is tomorow and I am terrified! I have been so long talking about the job and not actually peopraring my notes for it! The job title is a space crew team member, and I will wear a suit as I feel more confident about it! thanks to all people especially jarvisma and littlevoice!

so scared! so terrified! just want the job so much!

    regards

Well good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Get a good night's sleep and before you leave in the morning eat a good breakfast (even if you don't feel like it!) there's nothing worse than either feeling desperately hungry or hearing someone's rumbling tummy!

However much time you think you should allow, allow an extra hour. That way you will get there in plenty of time and not be rushed and stressed. A sweaty suit is not a comfortable suit!

Most important, think of it as trying to make friends with the interviewer. There is nothing worse than a candidate who just sits there and answers the questions to the letter and nothing else. Be chatty be friendly and you will find you are more relaxed.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Practice practice and more practice of possible questions - loads of web sites for examples

Get a good night's sleep - no extra caffeine - get there early and be yourself. Stay confident, make eye contact and ask questions. And be interested - before you leave ask "when will you be appointing" or "is there anything else you would like to know that I may not have covered?" let them know that you really want the job and why they should hire you.

    Good luck.

just got back! the interview did not go to well! but then again it wasnt bad either! there was a lot of compition there and i do not regret going there with a suit as it stood me out from the crowd! but overall I dont know! I dout I will get the job as there are not that many vacancies, but hey...it was worth a try!

just sent her a thank you email! and would hear from them in a week!

and now thank you all for helping me in preparing for the interview even though hardly any of the questions came up.

there was a lot of errrr and ummmm in sentance so I dont think I will get the job! now I just need to start revising for my exams and forget this ever happend!

Don't be disheartened - you can never tell what the outcome will be as you don't know how the other interviews went!

Emailing to thank her was a great move as it will make you stick in her mind and shows you are courteous and professional. I would love it if some of my candidates did that, it would definitely boost their chances.

But you are right in moving on. Either way there's nothing you can do now to swing things either way so just sit back and wait and see what they say.

Fingers crossed for you though, like I say you may be pleasently surprised!

As Jarvisma says, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Definitely a good thing to send thank you note.

We almost all include "errrr"s and "ummmm"s when we are a bit nervous. Perhaps it was because you started speaking before you knew what you were going to say! I wouldn't be too worried - for one thing you don't know what the competition were like when they were in the same chair. However, for the future, don't think that you have to jump in and answer a question straight away - pause if you need to to gather your thoughts. You might want even to say "let me just think about that" - so that they know you haven't completely lost it!

Good luck - and enjoy the revision too!
